At the core of Foxglove are brothers Bob and Jim Varner. The brothers rose to prominence in the 80’s as farmers and winemakers at their first venture, Varner Wines, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. It was here that their talents for producing high quality, transparent, terroir driven wines were heralded by critics.
In 1991 Bob and Jim introduced Foxglove wines. They wanted to create another label that was more focused on value and everyday drinking wines as opposed to the premium and cellar worthy wines they had always made. The Foxglove line-up includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. All sourced from a variety of places, all of which are along the Central Coast. Mild winters, cool, foggy summers, and clay-loam soils produce a combination of flavors that have been described as "textbook Central Coast." The wines are unoaked to preserve freshness of each varietal. They are produced in steel tanks, which showcases a different minimalism approach. Bob and Jim continue to receive accolades for the their winemaking as several critics and magazines consistently recognize Foxglove wines for their tremendous value and quality.
Notes of yuzu and greengage plum perfume this bright, fruit-focused Chardonnay. With no malolactic fermentation or oak maturation, it's a sheer, fresh-fruited wine with thirst-quenching ease and elegance.
